Multiple Routers?

Hi, I have comcast and I want to use a second router to use a second laptop. How would I hook up the second router? Does'nt the IP address come from the modem? Thanks

You can't have two routers active simultaneously on one phone line, connecting to the same ISP. The IP address comes from your ISP and if you have a dynamic IP your router will obtain a new one each time you reset it (Or switch routers etc.).

Call your ISP to find out if it is

DYNAMIC-can have many IPs

or

STATIC-only 1 IP

what about the 3G/UMTS/HSDPA USB Sticks ? they are all dynamic .... by not being able to control the IP it's really hard to manage your work. Not to say opening accounts.
