But they didn't. Being locked down in an apartment building with dozens of infected people isn't really a quarantine. It's akin to being locked down on a cruise ship with dozens of infected people - totally ineffective in both cases.
I remember some quarantining going on, but for the most part they just told people to stay put, and told local officials to stop reporting cases or be punished. | I recall one easy example, of a guy that was sick with a family of 6 in one house, and non of them got sick. Because when you are quarantined, you can actually do something about it. You know what's happening. You can make sure to do the right things and not to the wrong things. But being around a ton of strangers that you don't know, and they could or couldn't have it, and they couldn't care less about the people around them? |

If you quarantine EVERYONE, yeah, it will flat line. Why wouldn't it? | Millions of people left Wuhan before the quarantine took effect, unlikely none of them will of spread it about on their way back to work. |

China just stopped reporting cases and they've admitted to as much.
That doesn't mean it stopped spreading. Exponential increase and then a flat line is nonsense. They stopped reporting cases so the world would stop paying so much attention to how they were dealing with cases. The videos online from China of doors being welded shut, offices being fogged with people in them, hospitals packed way over capacity, etc, were getting out of hand. So China decided to just pretend it went away.
Only time would be able to convince me of anything different. | But surely we should be able to tell by leaked videos of these actions continuing, the same way we did so when it was getting out of control there. They've reopened their markets. Unless they've somehow managed to censor every video from getting out (and if they could they would've done that in the first place) then the obvious conclusion is that it has indeed stopped in China. |
re: jobless claims surge I barely cooked in the last 10 years.
I'm a useless cook, I get some boil in the bag rice, fry a couple of chops, and some salad and viola!
And the next meal I will swap the chops for chicken, and the rice for pasta.

| walkingupwards | 03-19-2020 12:40 PM | Re: Corona Virus I think this virus is engineered to burn itself out after few thousands infections, that was the case with S.Korea and China.
It was hyped up by the media as if it was Ebola on steroids, the hyping is done on purpose to cause as much financial damage as possible and it worked.
The virus is spreading too slowly in countries where temperature is hot (e.g: Singapore, Qatar and central Africa). I think it will disappear in summer and make a comeback next winter and by then its effects will be much more devastating (Hopefully the magical vaccine will be ready by then).
EDIT:
Many top level officials and big names around the world are getting infected (100% not by bad luck or hygiene). Prince Albert of Monaco and the chief EU's Brexit negotiator have been hit.
If the end result of this virus is getting China knocked down and the EU split up --> The usual suspects are behind it :yar: |

As far as the end results tho. That, you at least have some credence with. China getting knocked down and EU splitting up, will be interesting. Question is, who gains the most.
Last time I checked, globalism was usually to blame for all conspiracy theories. Are you now saying, anti globalists are the ones to blame? |

If it results in breaking up the EU, then yeah! The last thing the globalists want is for the EU to end :boink:
Have you seen the amount of help China is providing to Italy lately? Do you know that Italy was getting in bed with China in the last 10 years?
This fight is not between conservatives and globalists, it is between the oil industry and the guys of the renewables :violin: |

Chinese coronavirus experts warn northern Italy's lockdown measures are not enough

The coronavirus measures in place in the hard hit Lombardy region of northern Italy are “not strict enough,” according to Chinese medical experts helping the country deal with the crisis.
The situation in Lombardy right now "is similar to what we experienced two months ago in Wuhan, China, the epicenter of COVID-19," the Chinese Red Cross vice president, Sun Shuopeng, said Thursday in a press conference in Milan, Italy.
"In the city of Wuhan after one month since the adoption of the lockdown policy, we see a decreasing trend from the peak of the disease," Sun Shuopeng said. "Here in Milan, the hardest hit area by COVID-19, there isn't a very strict lockdown: public transportation is still working and people are still moving around, you're still having dinners and parties in the hotels and you're not wearing masks. We need every citizen to be involved in the fight of COVID-19 and follow this policy.”
He advised Italians to stop all “economic activities and cut the mobility of people.”
Everyone should just stay at home, he added. |

| phaz0rz | 03-19-2020 01:45 PM | Re: Corona Virus Here's a theory to refute the smear campaign of USA that CCP has launched, turbo:
Covid-19 actually was designed outside of China. Harvard was working with it under the leadership of Dr. Charles Lieber, who was arrested in late January for what are basically espionage charges. Lieber had been recruited by the CCP through their "Thousand Talents" program, which encouraged intellectual property theft from all over the world by paying top researchers huge salaries for helping develop programs within China. His job was to setup a biological research lab at the Wuhan Institute of Technology, which he did. Lieber lied about his involvement in Thousand Talents which led to his arrest.
If you actually read the story published by the Department of Justice it seem very likely that covid-19 was smuggled into China and then accidentally released due to mishandling. https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/harva...-china-related Quote:
Dr. Charles Lieber, 60, Chair of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Harvard University, was arrested this morning and charged by criminal complaint with one count of making a materially false, fictitious and fraudulent statement.
Yanqing Ye, 29, a Chinese national, was charged in an indictment today with one count each of visa fraud, making false statements, acting as an agent of a foreign government and conspiracy. Ye is currently in China.
Zaosong Zheng, 30, a Chinese national, was arrested on Dec. 10, 2019, at Boston’s Logan International Airport and charged by criminal complaint with attempting to smuggle 21 vials of biological research to China. On Jan. 21, 2020, Zheng was indicted on one count of smuggling goods from the United States and one count of making false, fictitious or fraudulent statements. He has been detained since Dec. 30, 2019.
| These arrests took place immediately after the breakout started in China. Lieber had been working with China since 2012 setting a lab so it's not unreasonable to assume many things had already been successfully smuggled into China before they got caught on the last try. |

Belt and Road Initiative
I think this is due to US bullying China :pop2: https://www.worldbank.org/en/topic/r...oad-initiative
How big is the BRI?
China has presented the BRI as an open arrangement in which all countries are welcome to participate. However, an official list of participating countries does not yet exist.
What needs to happen for the BRI to succeed?
BRI transport projects have the potential to substantially improve trade, foreign investment, and living conditions for citizens in participating countries—but only if China and other corridor economies adopt deeper policy reforms that increase transparency, expand trade, improve debt sustainability and mitigate environmental, social and corruption risks.
Italy is part of the road.
The Silk Road projected China into a superpower. Their modern fleet will be impressive. Bye, bye oil in South China Sea. https://chinapower.csis.org/china-naval-modernization/
Over the last few decades, China’s navy has rapidly expanded. As of 2018, the Chinese Navy consists of over 300 ships, making it larger than the 290 vessels comprising the deployable battle force of the US Navy. |

i tried Hello Fresh, you still have to cook ,read the instructions and tear open every packet of meat, spice, sauce, veggies, carbo.
Onion, potato, rice and pasta you still have to cook.
why bother?
But you have the righty idea, rice or pasta with different meat, get yourself a glass of wine and a salad. | Why bother? Well, I'd assume the people that would normally go to the store to buy those ingredients, and now can't, would probably bother. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 06:21 PM. | |
