Does anyone have a solution, or suggestion? Thanks tmon |
| tommymon | 10-09-2010 04:39 PM | Is Changing Internal IP # enough??? Having a real problem figuring out how to change IP. Changed "internal IP", that look like 1xx.xxx.1.xxx to last three numbers xx3.
those changes show up on ip burger but the main IP stays the same.
Not sure if that is enough of a change, but don't seem to be able to change the other number! Is that enough of a change? tks, tmon |
| mr888 | 10-09-2010 06:27 PM | lol no its not enough, that's just your local network address, what kind of connection are you using? cable? or wireless dongle |
| tommymon | 10-09-2010 08:57 PM | dsl with linksys router tks |
| archshot2k10 | 10-10-2010 12:21 PM | Are you using a cable modem or DSL? Are you using a router? |
| imjustme | 10-10-2010 12:31 PM | Try this:
1. Open MS-DOS.
2. Type ipconfig /release and hit ENTER.
3. Wait 3-5 seconds.
5. Type ipconfig /renew and hit ENTER.
Check to see if that worked. If not, try restarting your router, that should give you a new IP (almost) every time. |
| tommymon | 10-10-2010 12:37 PM | dsl and Linkys router. have tried with router in place and bypassing router.
tks, tmon |

| tommymon | 10-10-2010 12:45 PM | Tried restarting router...nothing! |
| imjustme | 10-10-2010 01:05 PM | Your ISP might have a static IP assigned to you. Try calling them and asking them about giving you a dynamic IP. |
| tommymon | 10-10-2010 04:27 PM | when I check it on ipburger and other ip site they say it is dynamic!? |
| jamblix | 10-10-2010 05:03 PM | I think I've got the same setup as you.
Just go to 192.168.1.1 in your browser that should take you to your Linksys setup.
Type admin as your password which should be the default. You can leave the user name blank.
Once inside the router setup you should see MAC address clone in the Setup tab
Change the last two letters/numbers in the user defined entry, if it's something like C5 change it to C6 or whatever you want. Clink save settings.
You'll lose your internet connection. Now go to your modem, unplug it for 10 seconds and plug it back in. Do the same for your Linksys router, unplug for 10 and plug it back in.
Once everything is reset, you should have a new IP address. |
| tommymon | 10-10-2010 06:40 PM | I appreciate your input, but my wife and I have tried that and a ton of other methods to reconfig and we have not had any luck yet. we have tried bypassing the router and doing it that way and tried many different suggestions from the IP forum and all over the net for about a week...time for dial up I think??? tks tmon |

I heard some make it difficult... |
| tommymon | 10-11-2010 11:14 AM | We use Embarq/Century link...the names keep changing. tmon |
I suggest you get a cable modem, and lose the router. In order to run a flawless operation you need to be able to retain the IP to switch between accounts. To my knowledge you can't through a router. If you got more than one PC, just get multiple routers. It costs a little more, but it's worth not having the hassle, and less chance of screwing up. |
| hpcpqcsco | 10-11-2010 11:42 PM | Some DSL company have dynamic IP but it won't change at all. I have AT&T U-ver (spell) and the IP never change for two years, have call them like 20 time to get help to no go :-) I unplug the modem or 2 days still would change at all. I gave up and order a cheapest Cable to do eBay stuff and the ATT for downloading :-) Quote:
