Except if you do this, eBay will smack their policy strike hammer on you sooner or later.

Maybe they are doing it because society has finally gotten so stupid and lazy, that figuring out the total for an order that is almost magically being shipped to their doorstep, is too hard of a task to complete with success. We all know how hard it is to add. Especially when 95% of all humans are complete morons. Sorry but i'm starting to lose all faith in everything. The world is going to sh*t, and so is ebay. Nothing ever changes for the better. I'm done ranting now.

So when I charge shipping and handling....more specifically handling fee....i'm going to get charged a fee from not only pp but ebay now. So my handling fee gets a fee right back just for its existence...jesus imaging trying to explain this to a tax expert. On top of that it looks like new sellers or no selling history sellers funds from sales are going to be held for an unmentioned time as well by looking at the letter.

Its one thing to hide behind the "we are a money transfer service" like paypal does when it comes to their excuse for taking a bite out of the funds but its another to flat out tax a shipping fee and a handling fee.....get your ducks in a row in another fashion ebay... I thought ebay was keeping out of wack shipping cost under wraps by letting buyers DSR ratings impact pretty much your survival on ebay?? Shipping too high equals trigger of the ebay system now resulting in suspension...

I am waiting for them to come out with the "oh prices are being raised because fuel cost". I know it makes no sense, but in corporate diagram world this ship fvf tax looked good to someone's boss so they can keep their job for another 12 months and get a bonus.

I'm very dissapointed to know that this became a trend just a few months ago. I remember I started doing the $1.00 buy it now and $??? under shipping costs about 2.5 years ago. It was only me and a FEW others that were doing it this way to save on final value fees, so it was unnoticeable.

Then about 2 years later came the idiot followers since they finally figured out the trick doing the same thing so now everyone has joined in on the trend. Which then affects ALL of us now due to the wagon riders who finally figured things out but making it look so obvious.

Good thing I have another trick that I also used to do and not many people know about which is to agree on a total price via email, set up the auction with a buy it now of $5.00(let's say) and tell him to buy it now, then update the invoice to the amount you and the buyer agreed upon. This usually always works, specially if you offer the seller a discount for doing it this way which is a win/win situation for the seller and buyer. :ranger:

Thank me later.

well not exactly. they dont hold it for any time limit. its a 21 day hold but there are ways to get it sooner then the holds on paypal. i made a post about it and they came from the message boards and have ebay rep responses.

Well, Sellers who try to Hide Profits in "Handling" costs, will no longer be able to do that for free they will now have to pay Ebay a little piece of that Kind of like the Mob,,,

Look at it this way, If you ever sold items with "Free Shipping" as I ALWAYS do you are really paying the Fee on the Shipping, Lets face it the cost of the Shipping is figured into the Price of the Product, so it is really the same thing.

At the end of the Day Sellers will have NO Choice but to pass the Extra costs on to the Buyers, there will be a Bit of turmoil until this whole thing "Shakes Out" but there is No other way,,,,The Buyers will ultimately Pay, one way or another

Are eBay and Paypal Committing MAIL FRAUD???

I know this is an old thread, but I'm going to say it anyway . . .

Since eBay is now charging Final Value Fees on Shipping, and my shipping is done at the US Post Office, does this fee on shipping thing constitute a form of Mail Fraud?

I just found something interesting. According to Wikipedia, under the Gramm–Leach–Bliley Act Paypal is a FINANCIAL INSTITUTION.

Since their Final Value Fee is a form of fraud against those who use the US Postal Service to deliver their products because the money they collect does not go to the US Postal Service, does this now mean that eBay and Paypal are committing mail fraud under a higher level? In other words, since the mail fraud laws have specific higher penalties for FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS, does this now mean that eBay and/or Paypal are guilty to the level of $1 million dollars and/or 30 years in prison?

Keep in mind, the mail fraud statutes are PER INCIDENT!

(I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see the CEO of Paypal in handcuffs, somehow ending up on the bad side of a perp-walk on my 6 o'clock news channel!)

Why would that be fraud? they are just collecting fees on the total amount you get from the auction/listing.

The rules are what they are. To just try and find something to "bring them down" ISNT going to happen so just live with it and go on like we all have to.

Not trying to hound you but its just wasted energy to even complain at this point.

(kind of like me wasting my time to post this when we already know this.) lol
