Default what went wrong?

Having being stung by suspension for simply trying to startup my own business I'm very interested in learning in what I did wrong. eBay of course won't help me on this matter as their view is that should I know what I did wrong I may circumvent it to avoid the matter in future...well yes but that doesn't mean I'm a fraudster.

I sourced 500 cosmetic products from Rainbow Cosmetics, a legitimate UK wholesaler. I listed my products and all was fine for about a month and then I got hit by an unauthorised item notice saying the authenticity of one of the products was in question. The listing was taken down. I made a new listing for a different product and within hours I was shut down with a suspended indefinitely notice. I have no idea what I've done wrong and it seems like ebay has just pulled the plug on a startup small business for the sake of it without allowing me to provide any evidence. I don't want the same problems if I go stealth (I've got the stealth guide) so am just confused as to what not to do next time?

Have you contacted them with your supplier details to prove the items are genuine?

They are ultra risky products.

I've simply been told to reply to the email notice, which I did. I offered to supply documentation but I just got a canned response saying they're sticking with their original decision.

There were YSL and MAC products, but again all supplied by a reputable wholesaler.

YSL and MAC are seriously high risk. If you are going to go again with these products before listing talk to Ebay. Explain where you buy your stock, explain what you want to do. There is a chance they MAY run with you and protect you from claims. Your suppliers invoices will need to be 100% and your suppliers will need to stand looking at.

EB would not like an action from a legitimate supplier because they said that supplier was selling ⊗⊗⊗⊗.

Personally I would sell generic but it's your business plan. It's fraught with danger but if it's presented right you MIGHT just pull it off.

Good luck with it

a very similar thing happneed to be, when I lost my original accounts, Ive looked at rainbow cosmetics and Im pretty sure they are legit, but if you submit the invoices there is no guarantee you will be allowed to sell, bottom line is the rights owner may keep getting your stuff down, knowing full well that unless you take legal action, you cannot stop them from doing so.....

Can they do that Oompah? If they are genuine and bought through the legit market can they still take you down?

Yeah a lot of companies dont like their items being sold on ebay full stop. - hence VeRo takedowns a lot of the time.

No they just like to pretend you dont exist :(

Best thing to do is steer clear of those type of products as your just wasting accounts really - an account can only take a certain amount of hits before you get taken out.

if you buy legit stuff then I do not see why you should have to avoid anything, although I get some things are obvious to us, but MAC cosmetics may not be obvious to a non-forumer...

also it is not that simple, some products can take you by surprise, I had issue recently with a product that had same concept and similar packaging to another, basically a generic version of the original, but not a fak e of it - could not have predicted it, because in a way alot of things can fall in to that catagory. I had seen it sold in chain stores and supermarkets, but the agent did not take them on, just little ol me. was this BS on the part of merchandizing agent, possibly, but the fact is they know you will go round in circles trying to prove it...
