Default "Please provide your tax ID number"

I'm at ~400 sales and ~3000 gross payment volume and PP just asked for tax id#. Will they limit the account if it does NOT hit $20K and I don't provide id?

Don't tell me to use the search function. I've done that all morning with no answer to my question

Probability is when they ask for your Tax ID they mean supply then with it, it's a submission from PayPal to ask you to submit the information if not you'll probably get limited. My guess is as good as yours!

Yea well, they say they ask for it because I'm approaching the limits and to "avoid interuptions" although it's a bit from $3k to $20k..

There's a saying on here "Give Them What They Want" usually if you provide PayPal they'll provide you!

Ok, I have now received my 3rd email from PP and they have changed the wording some since last email.

Last time Aug 22nd they said "We haven't heard from you yet about your tax ID number. PayPal needs your help to comply with these regulations and avoid interrupting your use of PayPal."

This time, Aug 27th they say: "We haven't heard from you yet about your tax ID number. PayPal needs your help to comply with these regulations and remove the limitations on account"

I have almost stopped using the account, just a few transactions but I can still both receive and make payments, so I don't know what the limitations that PP would remove are..

I am still no way near 20K in transactions though, maybe around 4K

why do you need it from yoru location? are you in the US or not?

Also that search you said you did. You did wrong. Its there and one of the most talked about issues. I have answered that already within the last few hrs so I know its there many times. Perhaps you are searching wrong?

When you typed your title that box comes up with several posts that have tax ID in it.

I have an account that they've been asking for the tax id on for months, and it just recently got limited pending additional info. I've been thinking of creating an LLC and using that EIN? I don't know.

You can but its not going to be stealth. They are requesting confirmation of the name on the account as well as the business name.

th SSN or EIN is simply not going to be stealth. If you want stealth then dont even think of those. you are going to have to abandon it and start a new account. There is no other way.

Did you get a limited after you hit $20,000 or before $20,000?

Well, you are going to have to give Paypal Something, or Paypal is Required by Uncle Sam to Send I believe it is 1/3 of your Paypal accounts Money to the IRS, which of Course you will get in the Form of a Credit which you will be able to apply to your Income Taxes, and of course if you "Overpay" Your taxes You will get a Refund from the IRS.

Understand that it 1/3 of the TOTAL Money Paypal Processed in your account for the YEAR NOT the amount of Money that was in the account at the Time it was limited, so if you Processed $9000 for the Year and you DO NOT provide a Tax ID Paypal will send $3000.00 to the IRS On Your Paypal accounts Behalf,,

That is Why Paypal is asking for these Tax ID Numbers in accounts that have only Peocessed a Little bit of Money

The IRS will NOT be Billing Paypal,,The IRS will Simply Require Paypal to turn Over as Much Money as they can to meet the Goverment Requirement, they will "Bill" you for the Rest,,and By the way This IS the way it will work,,

Good info I gotta start keeping my tax Id accounts low balances. I usually try to leave 200ish to cover refunds just not feasible anymore unless. None of mine even come close to 20k. Here is hoping we can link new paypal to the ebay account if not its gonna suck losing top rated accounts before Christmas

So, If I am reading this correctly ebay will collect 30% from me even if my paypal is under $20K. I pay my taxes but if paypal does that I will end up paying taxes twice and I cannot get an EIN because its a stealth account.

Im not sure What you are Reading,,But I Do Know what I Wrote

So now where did you read about Ebay,,Where do I mention Ebay?,,,The IRS REQUIRES that Paypal Report EVERYONE with sales of $20,000, Now in order to Do that Paypal NEEDS a Tax ID so the Goverment Knows who is Responsible for the Taxes Owed,,If Paypal Cannot get a Tax ID from You PayPal will be Required to Turn over 1/3 of the Total amount of the Money they Processed in your account,,This is VERY easy to Understand

A simple search on google or other sites show this as being a fact. Not just paypal, but banks, etc.

Its been on Fox Business channel, Bloomberg, etc.
