As luck would have it I stopped in a Target and they had 2 models on sale for $5. It was not listed in there advertisement, so I might have gotten lucky. Needless to say I cleaned them out!

No I just check randomly every few weeks, but Ive never seen them less than $10 (must be unlucky). I am also wondering if they are priced differently by region, since it asks you what zip code you are going to order it to. Might try some random zips and see if the price changes.

There are the random offhand quick sales - sometimes deals are even found on line

I'd like to hear about cheaper options from people, maybe cheap forwarding services comparable in price to tracfone.

Re: 0/0 limits on new accounts nonstop now

The cheap forwarding services are likely to be overused and run to the ground, no?

Re: 0/0 limits on new accounts nonstop now

Possibly, if numbers are heavily recycled.

Got tracfones today at CVS for $4.99 a piece... they are on sale until Sept 20th according to the sign that they had. Came with 20 mins of time also. Just your basic LG Flip phone.

I always think long term. I buy tracfones for the account then if it makes it to right before 60 days then instead of refilling it with a topup card I just pay a one time port fee $20 to google voice. Then the number stays active forever. No sense in having a drawer full of phones forever. Best solution long term I found.

I didn't quite get it. I buy t-mobile sim's. So instead of reup each 60-90 days with $10, you just pay $20 for lifetime active number? What is it called? "One number" in google voice ? If so, it won't work in case t-mobile recycles number for being inactive. Please clearify this if you can. TYIA

He ports his current number to his g.voice for just paying $20 one time payment and the number will be active forever so ebay or paypal can still call him on that number. It's more practical instead of keep adding airtime balance on the trancfone just to keep it active forever.

Re: 0/0 limits on new accounts nonstop now

Ok, I found it. It costs $20 to ftransfer number to voice. Does it really work after that ? Does it have any expiration dates or do you need to reup voice ever ?
Also did you have any 0/0 AFTER TRANSFERING NUMBER TO GOOGLE or any kind of limitations? Or should I just stay at tmobile. Maybe they could track google now ? But I had at t-mobile 4/10 - 0/0/. So 40% had 0/0 even though using 07/22 vanillas and t-mobile sim's. So its random, not about google voice I think. I called for one of them - she said that I'm not on public record and didn't fix it to 10/1000.
Did you have probles 0/0 after transfering too google ?

I haven't tried it, but after you paid $20 to port your number to g-voice there will be no more fees and your number will be active as long as you want to use it. And for what i understood to what miketyson said, he only does it if the seller account is already stable, so for your t-mobile sim numbers you can still do that but once you already established the account then you can port the number to g-voice so you can buy new sim and create a new stealth account with your new number.

Re: 0/0 limits on new accounts nonstop now

For the 0/$0 limit yes i had that same issue too, they can't find my info on public records, so maybe you can try to make accounts using common names. it's one of the reasons for the 0/$0 limit, and it's also possible that the number that you use was once a number of a banned seller on ebay before since the numbers are being recycled. I'm actually new here too so i'm also still in the learning process.

Re: 0/0 limits on new accounts nonstop now

Ok back to topic. So recently I created around 16 accounts. These are my first stelths. But I do everything right. So from first 10 accounts I had 4/10 -0/0. Yesterday I made 6 accounts and all 6 were 0/0. I use vanillas and t-mobile sims and dongle.
So the difference I noticed is following. I created buying acconts instead of seller's. And later in a week I put cc info and they became seller's. First 5 accounts had better chance not to get 0/0 when you have linked fully verified paypal before creating seller's account. And yesterday I created 6 -0/0 only because I didn't create paypal at all and it gave me fault accts.

So the bottom line, there's a much better chance not getting 0/0 when you first link fully verified paypal to ebay and then only updat to seller's account. Also as stated above stay away from free phone services (at least at moment of creation).
These are ony my thoughts and exp which I had. Yours might differ

aspkin 09-01-2014 05:42 PM

Re: 0/0 limits on new accounts nonstop now

Yes, it has always been suggested to verify and confirm PayPal before creating your seller account. While some can get away without doing this.. it's risky. The less risky behaviors (red flags) as you create your account the better.. :)

I also vouch for creating the verified pp in advance of eB operations

Been the method I have used for the last 7 years.

My paypal(s) are fully operational long before having an ebay account near them.

Good discovery on your part.

Re: 0/0 limits on new accounts nonstop now

I agree that fully verified accounts are the safest in general. But as far as the 0/0 limit is concerned (at least in my experience) it is solely related to the phone service used, as I have successfully made almost 30 unverified accounts since this problem started simply by switching away from free services like google voice, text+, and send hub.

In addition, I have lost 4 ebay accounts (each linked to a verified and confirmed paypal account) to the 0/0 limit when using services such as google voice, text+, and send hub as my phone number.

Re: 0/0 limits on new accounts nonstop now

I can attest to what nodeal is seeing as well.

G voice, text+, etc have a set database of numbers that they are pulling from. I am guessing ebay got ahold of this db within the last two months.

Best to spend a few extra bucks and get an area code close to where the address is.

All the CVS around me always keep only one $4.99 phone in stock. it is
the LG 440G. I stop by every few weeks and I see another one
waiting for me. I am probably the only one around who purchase
these. In the stores that I visit the $4.99 phones are still labeled
with the price of $14.99. Once I go to the cashier and she scans it
the price is $4.99

On official tracfone site LG 800G costs $5. You can get 6 at a time. It is reconditioned phone. What does that mean? Is that number been recycled before with this ESN or what? Is it same one guys you pirchase at stores?

Just copy and pasted this from google. "A reconditioned, or refurbished, cellphone is a pre-owned phone that has been returned either because the buyer changed their mind during the first 30 days after purchase, or because it had some sort of defect. These phones are brought back to as-new condition and are fully tested before being sold as a reconditioned phone." The common $5 tracfone in stores is the LG 440G and there's also the $10 samsung.

Are these phones in stores brand new or also reconditioned ? Or if it's hard to say, does it lookl like brand new (package etc) ?

fox20c 09-03-2014 01:14 PM

Re: 0/0 limits on new accounts nonstop now

They are new. Otherwise they would have to tell you they are reconditioned.

olekstom87 09-03-2014 06:18 PM

Re: 0/0 limits on new accounts nonstop now

Do you think I should try buying from off site? There's still a chance jt was returned and became reconditioned without using it for ebay, just regular people?

It means the phone has been used before, or was faulty. Previous owner returned it. Phone was then repaired ( if needed) reset to factory default settings & resold with a warranty.

Good bargain if the price is right.

Get a new sims card if needed....

What about all these cheap phones like tracfone? If they come with GSM phones, will I be able just put sim to my unlocked phone, so not to collect tons of phones ?
