If its doing it via live chat your account has to be at least 3 weeks old since opening or 3 weeks since the last increase via live chat (this is my personal experience)
So when you are through to live chat this is how i go about it:
Me: Id like to discuss about getting my selling allowance increased
Rep: blah blah we need to put you through to our team who specialises in this, would that be ok
Me: Yes, thank you
Then im through to the increase team, 9/10 i get my limit increase if i follow my rule of waiting every 3-4 weeks. You can also click the request limit increase in my ebay every 15 days.
Hope this has helped |

Is your account a business or personal account though Mao, I think that is what hitman is referring to.
Very rare to get increases via chat for personal accounts, even more so since the New Year.

The most you can get by contacting ebay chat is 100/£3500 on personal accounts.
Any higher and you need to convert to business.

Very rare to get increases via chat for personal accounts, even more so since the New Year. | Ive never had an issue live chat, if i phone its always hit and miss so i always stick to the live chat, so far this month ive had 4 accounts get up to 75/2600. These are just personal accounts, and i only have 2 business accounts that ive not logged on to now for 5 months so couldnt even tell you about getting limits on them etc, personal account is fine for me. Yes, 100/3500 is the most you can get by asking for a limits, there after you need to rely on ebay raising them for you.

Doesn't make any odds to me whatsoever anyway, I have never bothered going on live chat to get higher limits on personal accounts. I struggle to get 10/650 as I ALWAYS get 100/3500 or higher when making personal accounts.
Out of 10 accounts I will probably get two that are 10/650 so I don't really need to bother contacting them. Ideal as then I can upgrade them to business or keep them personal. |

Its just personal prefrence to the personal setting up the account i suppose, each to their own. Theres obviously a correct way of doing the 100/3500 and not many people know how to do it (including me obviously from my damned attempt lol)

I've 2 accounts which I have used regularly for over a year, mainly hit my listing and price limits each month, never been anything other than above standard and am top rated on the one which is a business one and 100% on both and still have 25/750 on both!
Was thinking of doing the live chat like mao though suppose after more than a year there must be something about the accounts thats stopping them getting increases though with ebay's inconsistencies it's pretty pointless guessing what!
Of course I have other accounts which sell the same kind of items and the limits have shot through the roof after a few weeks without doing anything! Eh....ebay!
I did actually read the business email ebay sent this week and that says that they are going to start increasing accounts limits automatically by up to 5 times the original limit which could be good news?

It does happen sometimes
There is no harm going in live chat if you want to risk that. You may be asked to phone in instead. They can also ask for invoices, ID or (and this is rare) for a letter to be sent to your address
Most the time though, you should be fine
Its just down to you to make that calculated risk

I've never phoned or used live chat as I've never wanted to have the chance of a review or a flag as you never know what kind of customer support member is going to answer your call or chat and maybe better to have low limits than there being any chance of losing it altogether.
Do you ( or anybody else ) know if they ask any kind of security or for any account details before they will talk to you about the account on live chat?

They will ask you to confirm all your account details sometimes
You should be logged into eBay before contacting them from live chat, generally that gives them all the information that they need

ok....so here's my recent experience.
after getting shut down on 5 accounts (1 left) i opened 2 stealth accounts. one is active now...as in i'm selling on it. they gave me a 10 item limit and after 2 weeks i hit the limit with small generic items (low risk).
so.... and here's a trick we can all learn from...
i waited until 11.45pm to hit the 'request higher selling limits' button. of course the pop up said they aren't manning the phones at this time...so there's a few links to selling limits info...i clicked on one and in the top right of the page there was a 'contact us' button. i hit it and got through on live chat. the girl on the other end didn't even wait for me to answer a question before she was asking the next...i'm assuming this is because their shift ends at 12 midnight. she gave me 100 listings within 4 minutes....i was stunned!!
so....if you want an increase with little to no awkwardness...then chat just before midnight

Once I get to 100/3500 here is what I do to get a system allowance upgrade:
1. Sell to my limits
2. PAY FEES EARLY
3. ship on time and TRACKED
4. answer all messages no matter if its stupid.
5. upload all tracking info on paypal
it can be time consuming but a few of my account just got 220/3500 and 190/3500 yesterday they are only 4 month old.

Its happen more and more in the UK these days
Its generally happening when people try to turn the eBay into a sellers account without adding and verifying a bank account first

This was just last night: | Hi pal,
I'm a business account, how can I access live chat and request a limit increase. I can only find live chat for other queries and when I try asking on these chats they only tell me that I need to follow the steps and use the link they provide me.
Previously when I requested this they would check the account, not sure if I'm just getting the worst possible chat reps.
Kind Regards,
Killakk

im not sure how it works for business accounts.
I do this:
Help & contact link at top of page > Contact us > (select topic) SELLING > other selling problems > selling limits
this will bring up contact options, which I always take the chat with us option (live chat)

I'll have a go on another question and try asking via Live Chat hoping they can transfer me to the correct department
