Default Private seller buy it now limits

Hi

Does any body have any idea how many sales a private seller can make a week or month before they are forced by eBay to upgrade to a business account.

Thanks in advance

What do you mean by a private seller??

If you are just talking about sales, I have made over 160k in one year on ebay in 2008 and used a regular account. Didnt even use a store. until a week or so ago I have never upgraded to a business account. That is the US though.

No one forces you to upgrade. King is correct.

I'll explain a bit better, I am running a stealth account, approx 4 months old, I am selling relatively low priced items, items are on buy it now auctions, I listed 50 items first of all, as these sell I revise auction and increase items for sale figure, because I am registered as a private seller, I can only assume it is only a matter of time before eBay recognises me as a business and forces me to upgrade my account, this is why I ask if anybody knows of buy it now allowances before I am made to upgrade.

it varies, i have one account at the moment thats limited to 100

they don't force you, they encourage you, when your listing you will see a waring message at the top of you listing page, if you see it just back off on listing and stay under it.

Just sell what you want and if they ask, just upgrade. there is no problem with that. Just more features, etc

Besides IF you are selling more and selling in qty you ARE running a business anyway so why the issue. Taxes??

Your clearly operating as a business so ofcourse their going to ask you to upgrade.

Only other option is spreading sales over multiple accounts.

That did make me laugh.

But the answer is probably something to do with those listing limits they are putting on sellers and if you reach them every month, then you are likely to be flagged as a business.

But the reason it is so hard to say it is this amount or that amount is likely to be down to the fact that like everything ebay do, it is complicated and depends on other factors like what you sell.

I still think ebay is overcomplicating their system, which will jump up and bite them on the butt eventually, as people will require a selling on ebay degree just to work out how to list and sell an item if they keep this up.

If your generating £2k a week £8,000 a month £24,000 months then eBay are going to flag your eBay account for review for a business account. Most private sellers don't make £24,000 in three months?
