I'm assuming that you have used them and had good experiences with them?

I guess because I mention simon.com a lot, especially in the guides. Simon giftaccounts are really great. I really wish with they had an affiliate service. :)

Giftcards is reputable. They've been around almost as long as Simon I believe. Haven't used them lately (hence the question) but have had no problems in the past with them. I liked that they were available by phone and quick customer service. My experience with Simon is that they're hard to reach and gift cards services have been a little shady in the past.

Exactly right. Be sure to get a real phone number for the ⊗⊗⊗⊗ person first. You can get a free one from aimphoneline.com The ⊗⊗⊗⊗ person will need this number when "they" activate the card. Use this same number for Ebay and Paypal too.


You can use the Simon card for Paypal. You cannot get verified however, without either applying for a Paypal credit card or using a valid checking account. You can still sell, only you are not verified and you cannot "require immediate payment". If that works for you then you all need is to find a way to then get your money out of Paypal. Not having a checking account kind of limits you. You will need to "pay someone" via their email address. Eventually it has to go to a real checking account or an online merchant. If anybody else knows of a way to get money out of Paypal anonymously (besides the PO BOX and DBA) I'd love to hear it.

Okay, I set up a new anonymous account at ebay. I haven't done a transaction on it yet. So far all they have is
1) a real name (of a real person who has never ebayed)
2) a real address, but with apt# added in case I want to use it again (accept for the apt# this was the address of the registered name)
3) a real phone number that has been disconnected for a year.(this also was the phone number for the registered name) Does this phone number need to be connected or simplt entered to activate the card?

I want to start selling so I will need to get a gift card (actually a simon account) since the simon gift account will not have to be mailed, can I use the same infomation and just have the details,activaton,etc sent to the email (which I created of course) of the registered person?

I know that I could also use the giftcard to set up the PP account, however will face the already stated obstacles in withdrawing money from it. Could I at some point add a checking account to PP (it would however not have the same name as the card, this would belong to me)...it has been a while since I established my current PP account, does PP require (actually verify) anything more than the routing and account numbers? Or would it be easier to just add the new email to my existing (verified,premier) PP account.

The only fear that I have of that is the only registered email I have at PP is the same one on my EB that got got suspended. Obviously, this would be the easiest, but I don't want jeopardize the new EB account by "associating" it with the banned one. I am reasonabley sure that I can work it this way because I did the following:

Setup EB account with email "1"

Setup PP account with email "1"

transacted business for quite a while with no worries

Setup EB account with email "2"

Added email "2" to my existing PP account

Ran 2 seperate ebay accounts with no problems, ("2" only occassionally)

Used one PP account with both emails registered

EB account "1" get VeRO'd, gone, bye,bye forever.

Use EB account "2" for over a year with no problems

Both emails are still registered at PP however I only log in using "2" email.

EB suspends "2" for being assciated.

Fearing the worst I withdraw the $700 in PP and remove email "1" I keep "2" in hopes of being re-instated at EB

Register at EB with email "3" as described above.

Can I now register email "3" at PP clear all cookies again,and reset IP and until I learn the "absolute" fate of EB account "2" if that gets killed forever I will remove email "2" from PP and run a single account email "3" at both PP and EB.

I'd like to be able to pay, get paid and pay my seller fees all through PP without having to set up a non-verifiable account. I could do that just for the new account and send payments to my verified account, but that way I am just paying more fees to PP which I don't want to do.

I would greatly appreciate anyone who has actual experiences similar to the scenario I described above and whether they worked or not.

It seems like it worked for me for a year and I think it was something that I did that screwed things up as opposed to PP running to EB and giving them the old email to check against their "blacklist"

Sounds like you are on the right track Dogfaceboy. The Simon account is easy. You only need to input the phone number when you activate the card. I would however get a free phone number anyway. Ebay and Paypal may try to call you down the road and if your number is disconnected they may suspend your account until you verify that you have a working number. If you get a local aimphoneline number be sure to call it once a month to keep it active. If you run aim in the toolbar it will notify you when you have an incoming call. You can then check your voicemail.

As far as Paypal, it's up to you. I would just start fresh with your friend's info. Get another checking account under your real name. Paypal only asked me for the account and routing number for verification, not even a name. They do not verify the name on the checking account either.

I currently have 2 checking accounts in my name that are not registered with PP. If the name on the account doesn't need to match the name I register with PP I am home free.

I will get the aim phone number for down the road.

I would like to get 3 or so EB accounts all up and running with PP accounts that I can withdraw from and just get back to selling and buying.

I would probably only use one and just have the other ones ready just in case.

I tryed to buy a card from simon it keeps telling cannot process atm because its down. Then giftcards says the same thing also. Has anyone had this problem as of yesterday?

Yes, I had the same problem yesterday and today.

Well from what I've read on this forum, virtual cards at giftcards.com has been down for some time. I'm not sure if simon is really down or if my card is not verified by visa. Apparently your card has to be verified for simon to take it. I used my old debit card for the first simon account just fine. I closed that checking account this past Monday since Ebay and Paypal were trying to take money out of it. I tried to buy another simon card yesterday with my new debit card (same bank and everything) and it says the "service is down" after submitting all my information. Can anyone else confirm that Simon is up or down? Thanks.

If you can, just go down to the corner gas station and buy an "All Access" Visa card. You can put in your ⊗⊗⊗⊗ info when you activate it online. It seems to work just fine for Ebay and Paypal.

I know its not possible right now to buy any simon cards of other gift cards. That are virtual..

If I go the mall and buy the cards there that just say SIMON GIFTCARD I can just put all bogus info on those cards and use it on ebay correct? Dont want to make a wasted trip. *im actualy going outside* Gasp! lol ^^

You can use any prepaid credit or gift card that has a Visa or MC logo to open a eBay account.

I remember someone (not sure who or what thread) said that they had a problem buying the virtual CC, but I think it might have had to do with them personally or their email or something similar.

What a bummer, get banned from ebay and then using simon virtual CC to get back on and getting banned by simon.

Got a Simon card yesterday and went to enter the info to sell (account was registered two weeks ago) and it said my card address didn't match my registered address. How can that be when there is no address on the card?

I did a live chat and the rep said that I could use ID verify.
The account is registered with the real information of a friend who just move, so the address and phone# (although now disconnected) are real.

Should I do the ID verify for $5 (from everything I have read here my gut says NO)

Should I try to set up a PP account with the card (or will I run into the same thing) and then select PP as payment method for EB


Or should I had the email registered on this account to my existing PP account(although the main email on the PP was the registered email on an EB account the just got banned)

Help, I thought I had things under control to get selling again

I just went to the Simon site and it said that I had to register to use it online...I guess for shipping info, whereas if it was used to buy something in person that wouldn't be required.

I'll report back after trying to add it again...if it works(which I am hoping it will) it will make this post moot other than to help to educate others through my ignorance

what address did you use? I had to use the address on file at mysimon couldnt use a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address to register the card...

I signed up using her info, so if they ever check it it will be legit(for a while anyway)

When I got the GC yesterday the guy at the mall kiosk said that it would be ready to go after he swiped it, so I thought that I was all set and probably would have been if I had tried to use it anywhere where the purchase was cash and carry.

With an online purchase you have to go to the Simon site and enter in your info so that if you make a purchase the vendor knows where to ship it...kind of like many merchants won't ship to an address different than the billinbg address.

So I entered the GC info the same as the EB registration in and it sailed right through. I also used it to get a new PP account and worked there too! It's not verified, but if I use that account to pay for my online purchases and pay my seller fees, that's okay. I just won't let the balance get too high and I will try to utilize the less than $500 month to send to my verified PP account.

Wondering if I can add another email to that account...just in case

However you are going to have to either keep a large balance in there if you don't want to change credit cards every month.

I'm thinking to pay your EB seller fees, but I have read that EB will let you send them a money order.

Can't you just set up a PP account using the same GC and then pay your seller fees to EB with that PP account?

I ordered 3 or 4 Simon cards in a week and they with-held the last card until they could get me on the phone to ask me why I was buying so many cards. They wanted to know what I was usuing them for. Has anyone run into this issue?

Unless you don't have one near you...fortunately for me I live < 5 miles from one.

The cards you get at the mall have no identifying info on them such as a name. They have a minimum of $20 plus $2 fee to buy the card, i.e. you get a card with $20 on it for $22. You then go to the Simon site on the card and register it for online purchases (so they have a name and address) This of course can be any name/the name you are using to create the EB and PP accounts. Your enter your info into the Simon site, go register at EB with that same info. They send a query (usually $1) to the CC company to verify that it is an active card and the address is the same and boom...you have an account set up. Works for PP too, but of course only unverifed.

I haven't used the VC, but you can put down any address (I think it would have to exist, at least) and name for SGC, the EB then PP. Worked for me about a week ago at least.

I have a question. Do I need to give my real name and address when buying a Simon virtual Giftaccount at Simmon.com? If I do, can Ebay detect my real name and address when I use this giftaccount to create the seller account which has my bogus name and address?

I actually live in Australia and I would like to buy a Simon Electronic Gift Card (they send it to you via email). How do I buy from them when they require a phone number in the United States for validation? Would someone be kind enough to give me their number and validate the cards for me? Or is their a way around this? Perhaps their may be another site I can buy it from?

Australia is not UK, were like way down under on the Globe ... try Oceania.

That happend to my brother. He bought a simon card at a mall but those don't have any address info registered. Funny too is that we have the same bank but Simon won't take his debit card but they take mine.

Simon is cool as the other side of the pillow!

Gift card declined for eBay selling fee
 

I used Simon gift card to open an eBay account. I set that eBay selling fees will be automatically charged to this gift card. But today when I checked this gift card, I found Simon gift card declined it. Could you tell me if I did something wrong. Another question is if I can use one Simon card to open 2 eBay seller accounts? Thanks.:confused:

Can anybody confirm that ebay are blocking Simon giftcards or any at all?

There hasn't been anything said about this; only the random one or two members that can't seem to activate a card, because of their own fault. It seems if you do it right, you have around a 90% chance of success.
