Default Limit to how many cases opened?

Long story short, buyer opened a case with me, I sorted him out and he closed the case leaving a happy customer.

What i want to know is is there a limit of cases opened against you as a seller as i heard some users here were banned by eBay for having as much as 3 sellers open a case against him. Any evidence to support something similar?

They say that it doesn't count against you anymore if you settle a cases before it gets escalated but they definitely matter.

If a flag is raised say for something else and you get a human eye in your account than they will review that youu have whatever number of cases that were opened and could get restricted.

The object is to never get a human eye on your account because than they will find things wrong

Exactly. How eBay reacts depends on what the cases are about. Let's say one day you dropped off 10 packages at the postal service and they somehow all went missing. Other than that, you have an EXCELLENT record as a seller. Your account is likely to survive.

On the other hand, if buyers are opening a lot of cases for "item not as described" and a couple of them are claiming you sold them counterfeits, then your account is MUCH MORE LIKELY to be suspended.

It all depends on your record, what you are selling, the number and timing of claims, etc.

I agree with the above.

They have made some crazy changes over the past year or so and this is one of them.

They pretend to now be a sellers friend and want to help you become even more successful then they slide this crap into your account.

I do my best to avoid any cases of any kind as above states you do not want some knucklehead sitting behind a desk with little to no knowledge getting bonus checks on how many accounts they can trash.

Usually depends on the amount of feedback you have and history of selling. A powerseller can have a bunch of open cases and survive, a new seller may have 1 and get banned.

I don't think there's a way to completely avoid cases, especially how the eBay contact seller section is set up now. It guides buyers towards opening a case. I have had a number of buyers who messaged me saying they didn't mean to open a case but one was opened when they're trying to contact me. I think the best rules to keep in place are sending the item early keeping up with your messages and replying quickly resolving problems early and when a buyer is unreasonable then add them to your buyer block list

I noticed that too! It basically encourages them or prompts them to open a case, when all they were doing was trying to message you to ask where their item was.

Yes I can't believe how ebay tricks the buyer into opening a case

I ordered toner and was sent the wrong item and as a seller I'd never open a case or give a negative unless I was scammed out of a high valued item , but I basically by shipping supplies

I went to message the buyer and it opened a case, ebay is absolutely terrible and deceitful, I think it even asked open a case or message the buyer so I hit message and it asked about what clicked on the topic and a case opened .

Ebay is so nutts in punishing sellers, now I know why I get a case sometimes that is just a general question unbelievable

it is not a trick pe se.

It is ebay's method of making sure issues between sellers and buyers are on file from an early stage.

It is allowing both parties to have a record of their troubles.

Problem is ebay never told buyers this was happening.

Where good sellers resolve troubles, they (rightly so) ask the buyer to close 'the case'....

Buyers do not know how to do this. They then quote but I never opened a case in the first place.

Another example of ebay not working thro' an effort to help and making more confusion.

Even a buyer just not e-mailed me about this auto-claim stuff to discuss - communication break caused by eB is annoying indeed

A lot of variables to consider - product sales, longetivity, credibility (e.g. feedback), claims, etc....
