Reliable Proxy?

I'm looking for a reliable proxy service that will work on the majority of the internet. Youhide.com and freeproxyserver.net seem to have major limitations. Anyone have a recommendation?

By the way, this isn't just for ebay. :)

simogold 08-11-2007 10:08 AM

try the VPN technology. it's fast and secure.

JackNoMore 08-11-2007 10:37 AM

Thanks but, gotta direct link? It looks complicated. Just looking to check a few sites, not a major upgrade.

JackNoMore 08-11-2007 04:51 PM

Do any of these work on dial-up? All I can find is wireless.

aspkin 08-11-2007 05:29 PM

I use proxify.com, it's free service is okay, but to work with eBay, you need to pay a small fee. I like it.

JackNoMore 08-12-2007 09:51 AM

Aspkin does it work on Paypal and other businesses, or is that fee based too?

aspkin 08-12-2007 04:42 PM

It's just one fee, 6 month usage. I was able to login to eBay and Paypal with no problems.

JackNoMore 08-24-2007 11:21 AM

I'm trying to create an account in another region and I need something that will show the location in that region too. As FB said, that will probably be safer. AOL won't give that location so I'm looking at other alternatives. In this thread, the proxy switcher and cnet program above stand out. Between those and AOL, which do you think has the lesser chance of being shot down? AOL is practically worldwide now I believe, right? So would the ISP proxy be the safer choice--even though the IP location will be different from the account location--or would you go with the proxy program that I can modify to the location of the eb account?

JackNoMore 08-24-2007 05:37 PM

Proxy Switcher

Tell me all about it. Used it? Like it? Hate it? Can you change your IP to whatever you want? Does it stay or constantly change? Would you recommend it over AOL? Please share all.

ihatebay 08-26-2007 01:04 AM

No a proxy doesn't work, and say if the proxy is in China or Russia that would make you look even worse.

Sometimes you lose connection with the proxy and suddenly you are back on your suspended IP and Ebay will know.

Best way is to use dial up or just switch your MAC address, that will change your IP.

JackNoMore 08-26-2007 01:23 AM

Ideally, the idea would be for the proxy location to be the same as the ebay address and stay that way. Can you lose proxy connection even on a constant connection like broadband?
The account will be registered in another country so just using dial up won't work. But even that aside, on dial-up I still get a warning before the connection is completely lost.

I believe you change your IP address without changing MAC address just by reseeting your modem or router and do a whole new setup.

No more proxies for me!

So I was using a proxy on 2 of my accounts and 1 not. The 2 that I used proxies on last night had issues. The first said that my account was used by an unauthorized 3rd party. They wanted a new password, but for some reason they kept asking a security question that I did not use (they wanted 1st school, I used 1st street name). So I can't access it anymore. The other one now wants to check my phone number! The phone number I have used for that account was my work number, but am on maternity leave now so I'm kind of screwed on that one for the next year!

so now I'm down to one brand new account (<1 week), which of course, I can't really use too much without getting shut down. I tried to make that one as solid as possible: virtual bank with real debit mastercard, real address (parents), I even threw them a roadrunner email address (but forwarding to gmail). I will be soooo bummed if this one gets shut down. I'm hoping to keep this one long term.

I have sbc/att dsl and my ip resets just by unplugging the modem or hitting the reset button

Also, I have used Hide IP and it does randomly generate a new IP address...I've yet to even get one in North America, so for our purposes it is useless.

Also, I ran it once before opening IE and my ISP wouldn't even let me sign on because it thought I was accessing from halyway around the world.

aspkin 08-27-2007 12:51 PM

Hmm, which proxy service were you using? Or was it AOL?

I see. Thanks aaa1

Jonas 09-04-2007 06:06 PM

I posted about this long ago. eBay always resets your password and then makes you enter captchas for every single damn thing on their site if you use proxies. When they reset your password, they reset your security question, too.

Whateverittakes 09-07-2007 08:00 PM

I was thinking about using Proxify. Glad to know ahead of time that they won't work. What's this about AOL?

DogFacedBoy 09-08-2007 04:46 AM

I've noticed that my AOL IP has been the same now for a few days and several different logins, but I haven't cleared my "footprints" there for a while. Not a big deal necause I am only using it on one "good" account.

Jonas 09-09-2007 06:57 AM

Proxies work, eBay just ****lists the account more and more until it's still a registered user but can't do anything.

anotherebayhater 09-09-2007 10:48 AM

u can call customer no servce though if you are really desparate. if the acct has just been reset . but be sure you know all the info u put on that acct. I got an idea from another poster who was using index cards to keep track of all their accts and whats on them. good tool for when you are locked out of the personal info section of your acct. :)

JackNoMore 09-09-2007 11:00 AM

Or just keep a printed file

Ex-eBay 09-12-2007 05:13 PM

Question about Hide IP

Is it a good idea to use this software?

Every time i change it it gives me:

Italy
China
Egypt
England
USA

etc...

Would i get banned if i use it?

Or should i use the old reboot your modem trick?

ex ebay

aspkin 09-12-2007 10:39 PM

If you have the option... it's a lot better to reboot your modem. EBay usually bans accounts using proxies like THIS.

Ex-eBay 09-13-2007 12:34 AM

kool i wont use it then :)

kevinxu 10-09-2007 10:00 PM

about the vpn

i'm in china and its hard for me to get another chinese account cos the verification is very strict for chinese. Then i need buy us or uk account but i need sort out the ip problem first.anyone has the same problem with me?have anyone tried the vpn or other prioxy?

x2ruff4u 10-10-2007 01:11 AM

Chinese accounts require global trading limit authorization. Its cause its so high there of people scamiing. I wouldnt bother selling with a china account if your to sell oversea's. At least im pretty sure on that. The ip problem can be solved by using aol. Just keep track of those. I know your ip takes you directly to the ebay japan or w/e. Maybe thatll help. A proxy would help but that would limit ur account.

proxy and info need some help TY

hey, I,m back on this forum, and you know why? ebay suspension off course!!
Now I want to restart a new accounts paypal + ebay with my sister name and her bank account.
She's gona open the account from her home, list the first item and then send all infos to paypal and ebay when needed.
Affter that, I want to run this account from my computer but is difficult for me to change my IP. So my first questions is: does is safe to use a proxy, if yes wich one?
My second question is: Does i need to change my Pc or clean the hard drive? I I know about cookies and tamporaly files, but an user on this forum said that he have changed his computer, Does I need to do this or how i can clean my computer?
I want realy open a 100% sure account, my sister get the same last name as me,but in a different state so my third questions is: does it's a problem, if we restart selling the same stuff if last name match with my suspended account.
Last question can I have to change the style of my listing or can I copy and and past an existing one.
Thanks
Arsene Lupin

Dear ASPKIN
I red your article and Greatly appreciate your information. At the same time I respectfully dissagreewith you about one issue.
Paypal and eBay DO share the information.
If you wish to know details read following details.
We got suspended before. We opened new account in June (months and months after the suspension). It was opened on my wife's name.
We sold several items during 3 months and at the end of August had the clash with the Fraudulent Buyer. The person submitted NOT-DELIVERED complaint to paypal on 3rd day after the payment. We definitely could not deliver the item from CA to FL in 3 days. He recieved the item in one week, but didn't end the claim. We made multiple calls to Paypal trying to push for release of over 3000 dollars frozen on "LIMITED" Paypal Account.
As of today the item was not returned to us and it's more than one month after he recieved it. "Buyer" requilified the claim to NOT-AS-DESCRIBED with no details of what exactly is NOT-AS-DESCRIBED. So he wants to hold the item and get the money back. Last time we reached the Paypal superviser, who promised to fix the problem within one week, but in just a few hours after that our account on eBay was suspended. Plus they suspended the account, which belongs to my son who had used our computer to login to his account. ......
I found all the information provided by you very usefull. I am starting everything from scratch by ordering new services including new phone number and new ISP on my employee's name.
I will be changing even Network Cards or Computers.
Thanks for your help!

Greg

Paypal and eBay DO share the information.
We are already aware of that Greg. Wee have you been??

We definitely could not deliver the item from CA to FL in 3 days.
Sure you can, thats just a excuse! Use priority mail or overnight mail!

So he wants to hold the item and get the money back.
Sure you can get your item back. You have his address. Pay him a visit or take him to civil court. Threaten to sue. Thats works all the time

imjustme 10-10-2007 12:54 PM

I disagree with that statement. I have been using proxies on eBay without problems for many months. The thing is you need a dedicated proxy set-up to only allow your connections and show ports as closed to everyone else. That way eBay cannot detect if you're using a proxy or not.

delirium 10-10-2007 01:07 PM

Imjustme,
would you explain how to do that as far as set up goes? thanks!

arsenelupin 10-10-2007 07:33 PM

imjustme proxy set up

thanks for the infos, can you explain how to do this and does it work with all proxy

Chris Hanson 10-10-2007 10:38 PM

It did not detect my free proxy..

Hide My Ass! Free Proxy - Free Web Proxy - Free Anonymous Browsing

As far as unknown city, my ip from comcast cable gives that reading and my ISP is not a proxy??

Chris Hanson 10-10-2007 10:42 PM

It passed all Modee..

Oh and 2 of the websites you posted are the same

Chris Hanson 10-10-2007 11:04 PM

yeah actually it did say unknown city. But what i was stating earlier, even on my original Ip it says unknown city. But on the first one Ip checker, it marks my city.

Yeh i admit it, my proxy failed your tests.

the fabricator 10-11-2007 12:51 AM

To block IP or not to block...

That is the question. Is it worth it to just get an IP blocker, that way we won't have to worry about trying to change our IP's all the time; Or is this asking for attention and setting a red flag out.
I went into my network and manually changed my IP, then just configured it through the Assist Me run through and my IP was change to the number that I put; has anybody else tried this? It seems to reset itself back to the old one if I quit the Network menu, but if I leave it up it stays. So we'll see what happens by tomorrow.
