| | | NFLFAN1975 | 04-01-2008 07:21 AM | Can someone explain Webproxy servers? I'm curious about using these Proxy servers but have a few questions hopefully someone can answer. Are you given a different IP address every time you use these servers or are you assigned a specific IP when you join? Also if anyone could suggest a site w/ a low cost, I would really appreciate it. You have all been very helpful w/ past issues. Thanks. |
| Sammi007 | 04-02-2008 01:05 AM | Well... I'm not sure how proxys works...but I was using my Australian eBay account while I was living in France for 3 years. I opened up various ebay accounts in France that got suspended and they never linked my french account back to my Australian account so I never got suspended on my Australian account! I was using Wireless DSL Modem.
I came back to Australia though and I was still using another French account, and they suspended my french account and all my Australian accounts.
There must be different laws in the EU on how they look up your IP address and proxys, ect... |
| ebaysucksthebigone | 04-02-2008 07:24 AM | nice thread on proxies... well ive been dabbling into proxies and yes its hard to find good services even paid ones that work well, some proxies dont wont very well when it comes to certain websites.
ive been trialing TOR services with privoxy installed and running.
has anyone else had any experience with it ?
ive managed to do a IPLOCATOR check that modee thankfully gave and yes it does come up with a FALSE in PROXY ? however it still gives a location like country, origin, state, etc..etc...
Another program i was considering using was PROXY SWITCHER mentioned before, im not fussed if i have to pay for it, im well aware that using a proxy from another country can get you banned eg. proxy is for GERMANY but your in AUSTRALIA, however i believe PROXY SWITCHER allows you to choose a proxy and keep changing to a proxy in your country.
wouldnt this not give red flags on ebay if your ip changes, BUT its always located in the same country ?
cheers. |
| hingwhh | 04-03-2008 07:42 AM | About VPN. When I read ebay stealth and search in this forum, I see people talking about VPN. And I want to know is there anyone using VPN to hide IP ? And your account is running good? |
| ebayaintstupid | 04-03-2008 07:51 AM | VPN Sounds Clever, but I don't understand it fully... I know it is for security purposes like a proxy. EBAY is down on proxies and have figured them out. Any account coming in on most of the free or cheap proxies out there are taken down on EBAY. They no like.
Now, if a VPN could vary the IP like dial-up so that EBAY could not pin it down, that could work, especially if the IP could be moved about the country, so people could be from wherever they want to be.
This is an excellent question, and a great new thread/idea. Would love to hear more. |
Would using AOL give a different ip each time you use the pc, so be o.k to use for fresh a/c? |
| NowWhat | 04-04-2008 09:41 PM | HELP! I am new here.
Earlier this evening I was reading some post (from today?) about AOL no longer being proxy. I went away to check mine, and YES the AOL IS GIVING THE TRUE IP AT IPBURGER!.
Now I can't find that thread.
Can someone guide me to it?
Thanks, Steve |

| NowWhat | 04-05-2008 09:07 PM | hingwhh, I checked just now and got a proxy IP, but uring the day it was always the real one.
What to think? |
| ambercolour | 04-06-2008 12:23 AM | Proxies is a bad idea for ebay, why? Because you need elite proxies (anonymous proxies) and all proxies have the port address which is generally "80/8080/3128/8888" eBay can see this and also the proxy Header and then redflag the account. If you can remove these (which it is possible) then eBay/Paypal cannot tell if you are from a proxy or not :P
example would be:
24.118.182.97:9656
81.155.146.78:33056
you can do a whois check on both of these and they are from REAL ISP in the UK, the beauty of these proxies is that they dont use common ports as I mentioned. |
| ebayaintstupid | 04-18-2008 06:53 AM | Check this out if you use a proxy... |
| GreenBean | 04-18-2008 07:11 AM | Great Joke. Oh Well Done! I have had my Friday laugh. Your post has made me crack up
laughing. Errr, have you read the forum thoroughly? One or two threads &
posts about this fact already.:p |
| ebayaintstupid | 04-18-2008 09:11 AM | Really? OK... Can you point me to a useful response for avoiding it? |
| siashay | 04-18-2008 09:18 AM | ebayaintstupid, That is a good website. I put it on my bookmarks. Thanks. It did not see through my aol. But I noticed if I don't sign into aol desktop it does see my real ip address. I have made that mistake. |
| ebayaintstupid | 04-18-2008 09:48 AM | It sees right through AOLs Desktop for me Disabling it involves a couple of steps. But it doesn't appear to always block it.
Totally uninstalling Java makes it not work, but then all sites that depend on Java don't work.
What disturbed me about this was that Sun is not typically the type of company to support spying on people and this seems to have that and only that purpose. |
| TotallyDisgusted | 04-18-2008 10:16 AM | I, also checked it out using AOL browser and it did not detect. The weird thing is that when I checked it using real IP without AOL, the IP was correct but my location was not even close. |

recommended because of its variables. Basically the forum likes to present
HARD DATA to allow users to beat ebay. At this point, I do not feel that a
strong enough case for using proxies is presented.
I really would not like to read of any user coming back to the forum and saying
'I used xxstupid's suggestion of this proxy. But my ebay account is now Naru'd.'
Not a personal attack on you as I fight quite differently. A comment that this is
an area where any user must WATCH OUT. cheers |

The AOL seemed a great idea - but we only have broadband here as far as I know.
Now I am to understand that BROADBAND AOL DOESN'T WORK? |
| GreenBean | 04-18-2008 11:30 PM | There is An Answer :D No, there is a solution for you even using AOL Broadband. Here's what I think
You are in Northern Mexico? So you are within say 200 miles of a USA town?
(just over the border....oops side track). Subject to getting this checked by
aspkin or Modee, why can you not manually set your IP to one in the USA?
Really I am not so great at the logistics here but I think you can work it. |

Really I am not so great at the logistics here but I think you can work it. | Yes, GreenBean, I may have to do that. But I have a static IP on this computer, and the technology to change it seems very challenging. Thanks for your input. |
| GreenBean | 04-18-2008 11:54 PM | No. That is only in your mind that it is hard: you can change IP from static to dynamic. Look at it this way, 99.9% of your/mine IP problems can be answered by someone here.
As I said, aspkin & Modee will help. Just think YOU can do this. |

| bucegt | 04-25-2008 03:50 PM | Proxy Servers - Do they really Work Can anyone advice if the proxy servers work - I have tried changing IP address so many different times and different ways - even called comcast 5 times - they say it can't be done. So, is there anyone out there who has successfully used a proxy server to get back onto e-bay and keep there account going???? |
| TotallyDisgusted | 04-25-2008 04:12 PM | Yes to the proxy. I am feeling your frustration in your post and know just how you feel.
I use a cable modem w/router and the router makes it very difficult to change ips on the fly. With several eb accounts, I absolutely refuse to unplug, restart, etc. etc. to have the ability to sign-on each separate account. So...I have been using smarhide (freeware) successfully and have downloaded AOL desktop version, got a screen name and also successfully log-in w/eb using different ips. Have been using smarthide for 6-weeks now w/no problems and more recently started using aol. |
| aspkin | 04-26-2008 07:33 AM | AOL Proxy is the only proxy that works well. All the others are worthless for eBay. |
| ebayaintstupid | 04-26-2008 08:42 AM | But if you use AOL Proxy, uninatall the JRE... |
| ebayaintstupid | 04-27-2008 09:32 AM | For one, I don't use comcast... for two, the description only half works. You cannot dependably get an address back once you release it. And if you have more than one EBAY account, constantly fiddling with your Cable Modem/Router each time you want to log in gets kind of crazy. |
| bucegt | 04-28-2008 02:26 PM | Tracking Via Old IP - without proxy server - how long to track??? I just got a new account set up and everything I thought straightened out. However, stupid me, I forgot to go into the proxy server (anonymizer) before signing onto ebay. I was signed on for all of about as long as it took to sign on -realize it- and sign off - (maybe 2-3 seconds).
Is this long enough for ebay to track my old ip and suspend my new account???
Thanks |
| BigLoke | 05-20-2008 08:50 PM | Using a VPN and paying for it... is it worth it??? I am ready to start new accoutns on ebay. i read the full 35 page manual
but i have a question or two....
i noticed "smartVPN.com" has been removed from your list in your latest updates
why so???
and seeing as i want maximum protection from ebay seeing my IP address and linking accounts. is paying for a VPN still the best thing to do? along with deleting cookies with firefox?
i think its worth it to pay for the piece of mind if you are a serious ebayer
anyone know a way around this PLEASE share :D |
| aspkin | 05-20-2008 09:15 PM | If you're unable to change your IP address any other way, VPN works. It's optional though, just as in Dialup. And of course deleting cookies along with changing your IP is a must.
About smartVPN.com, Mik3 must have removed that; I didn't touch the VPN section that much. |
| spacemtn | 05-22-2008 11:52 AM | I just bought strong vpn, but my question is that if it assigns you only one ip address and says it allows for anonymous surfing, when you go to ebay or paypal, does it show the same static ip address every time that you log in. If that is the case, what is the point of the vpn if you are opening one account. I have never understood this one and have now purchased both witopia and strong vpn. Any help or comments would be appreciated to clear up my confusion. |
| trg005 | 05-23-2008 11:04 AM | noip.com If I use something like no-ip.com would that stop ebay from linking accounts? TIA |
| aspkin | 05-23-2008 11:23 AM | No . |
| ambercolour | 05-30-2008 06:52 AM | you can always use one of my proxy's, Im sure they will say "no proxy detected" therefore they cannot be detected by ebay or paypal :D |
| mtime88 | 06-05-2008 02:15 PM | ebay never bans me because of ip... |
| RAgame | 06-15-2008 04:09 PM | Hey Guys found a method thats been working so far for me. Hello peepz,
Ive also been in a similar situation.. got linked to my assholish friend.. I started using aniscartujo.com/webproxy/ .. I saw that it showed isproxy = false, so Im hoping this works.. I started using it 2 days ago put up 2 items.. havent been banned yet. Still new to this proxy thing but read that this one in particular is good for eBay proxies.. get back to me or post.. thanks guys for all the help. Good website. Whoever made this is a genyus. |
| doughboykilla | 06-20-2008 09:29 PM | Paypal and AOL proxy useing aol browser Yeah well sence i was forced to use paypal in order to keep selling i had to verfiey my paypal account and i had a bunch of idiot buyers pay me useing paypal even though in my listing i said i cant do paypal so i said what the hell and did a w/d for $238 to my meta bank up side card which i figerd i would be limted with in hours but to my surpize the money went from pending to complete and i got the money today on my card and funny thing is i did it all through aol and i was sure i was going to get limted w/d that much at first and useing aol and being a new paypal user i was shocked
so dose any one else use aol with paypal and have any problems? i know its a problem with ebay but not sure about paypal.
this was the first time i used paypal in sence launch date of google checkout. and i made the account under ⊗⊗⊗⊗ info |
| aspkin | 06-21-2008 12:54 AM | Was your Paypal account verified and or confirmed?
Paypal doesn't like proxies so much, but AOL might be an exception like it is for eBay. Also your transactions were for less then $500, so it's wasn't a cause for alarm.
Paypal works with eBay, many people on this forum use Paypal and eBay successfully together. |
Anyone Using TOR ? Does it help w/ IP addresses? What exactly does TOR do?
And does it help hide your IP address?
any help (pros/cons) would be greatly appreciated! | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 11:27 AM. | |
