I agree with you, with the exception of this point.

WHO confirmed on the 16th that covid-19 can go airborne and survive in the air. The mass denial of this fact is confusing to me. It will do more harm than good trying to convince people that direct contact is the only mode of transmission. People should be taking every precaution possible regardless.

While it can survive in the air that’s not in dispute here that’s not quite the same is it being completely airborne

It’s not spreading and multiplying in the air like a fully airborne virus would. So yes it’s airborne in the sense that if you go ahead and sneeze on someone else or in proximity to them it could spread from you to them via that method but you couldn’t sneeze in the air and then someone 100 foot away get infected.

I suppose it comes down to terminology but by the strict definition it’s just not an airborne virus

You have to distinguish between what’s possible and what’s actually happening.

It's clear this isn't being greatly transmitted via airborne means.

Well, they ARE saying in certain situations, it can sometimes remain in the air for a few hours.

But like you say, this clearly isn't happening on anything outside a minuscule scale, and BY DEFINITION, is not an airborne scenario.

Viruses need hosts to replicate. Has there ever been a virus that can multiply in the air?

That's certainly not clear to me. 10k+ new cases every day suggest to me airborne transmission is definitely happening on a large scale. Do you think every new infected person was directly sneezed on by another infected person?

Poor phrasing from me there...

By all accounts its being spread from direct person to person or from person to object to person contact.

Handshakes, hugs, someone opening a door and then another person coming along and touching the same door handle, ATM machines key pads, picking up a tin of beans in a shop putting it back and then someone else picking it up etc. Its not happening from people sneezing on each other or coughing at each other. There will be some spread through that, but its really a small %. Instead of wearing a mask people are better off wearing gloves and just not touching their face.

Still trying to make sense of this post. A sick person, with ONE COUGH, can expel up to 2 hundred million individual virus particles.

Do you really need multiplication, when one cough puts that much virus into the air?

The first infected person in my country was traveling in a bus with 15 other people for 6 hours. No other person was infected. If it was airborne it would be different story.

That is rationing no? Even if on a small scale with certain items it’s happening none the less.

It is getting hard to find certain things, even if you go to lots of different shops. I’m sure that will change in time and supply chains catch up

If it doesn't last long on inanimate objects one could assume the alternative is airbourne contraction. It's probably a combo of the two all happening in close proximity and fairly quickly. Cough on object or cough on person.

Droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs -CDC

Where is the planet headed to anyways. Are we all going to keep our differences and maintain borders until we eventually consume majority of resources, then fight over them? Why not unite... regulate resources and spread them evenly. Pretty socialist but so is trading, don't see other options for a one-world global society :mod:

I'm actually enjoying my days at the moment, despite the Chinavirus

Sales are fine
Instead of the gym, i'm running for a change
I bought a skipping rope for my terrace, doing other exercise looking for some weights
Watching Russian films.
Studying Russian.
Sunbathing
Enjoying the quiet street and clean air.

If it stays like this then it's ok for me for a while, but an Italy type scenario would suck

China has reported no new locally transmitted coronavirus cases for the first time since the the pandemic began, marking a major turning point in the global battle to contain Covid-19.

At a news conference on Thursday morning, officials from China's National Health Commission announced there had been just 34 new cases in the past 24 hours -- all imported from overseas -- and eight new deaths, all in Hubei, the province where the virus was first identified.

There were there no new reported cases in Hubei at all on Wednesday.

Why this matters: The milestone will likely be held up as proof of the ongoing success of China's sweeping, top-down efforts to control the virus, despite persistent allegations that local officials mishandled the initial outbreak. Just last month, mainland China was reporting thousands of new cases every day, and was considered the most high-risk infection area in the world.

In the weeks following the early spread of the virus, the government enacted draconian quarantine measures and strict travel restrictions affecting hundreds of millions of citizens. In some hard-hit cities, residents have been unable to leave their apartments for more than a month, while transport between major population hubs has been limited or halted altogether.

The unprecedented nature of the measures has exacted a steep toll, both on the many millions of ordinary Chinese forced to endure life under lockdown and the country's economy, which has seen a steep decline in recent weeks.

But it has also apparently worked, with zero new local transmissions.

And as the danger has lessened in China, the global infection rate continues to accelerate, with countries across multiple continents now grappling with fast-expanding outbreaks of their own.

Lying or not, we all are the victims of this. People should be demanding the origins of this virus investigated. I don't think China has the bio-technology to have made this virus. It has also been theorized that the virus was "sold" to China, if that is the case, the "seller" must be investigated and dealt with --> of course I am day dreaming :-) LOL

This crisis is going be over in the near future and we are not the ones who will be laughing all way to the bank with billions of stolen dollars.


Mark my words, people will forget about this three years from now and amnesia will set in once again without any consequences for the terrorists who pulled this off.
