Just ordering from dhgate doesn't mean your package will get held up, depends on what it is. I had 1 package with software and phone cases in it, they opened it up took out the software and sent me the phone cases.

Bummer man, I've been chatting with some suppliers of mine from China, I asked them what the deal is with customs and if they have any information. Two of them told me that lite shipments through EMS is the way to go to avoid customs issues.

No. Not by itself. Either customs wants more information about the order, or they have seized the package. Most likely seized, given that so many others have had problems.

Sorry to have bad news, but it is what it is.

Over here in the U.K. they were clamping down a fortnight ago. World Cup is the definite issue. The news over here reported on it. In the U.K. they do a blitz where by the select a day once a year to 'crack down' for the press. It was the 8th June over here (anti-counterfeiting day)

What do you guys think of UPS boxes. I opened one up to see how it goes. Do you think it will pass through ok?

Anyway please let me know what you think. Also I have 2 orders going to that UPS box this week and I will update everyone on how it goes.

I don't think a UPS box will either help or hurt - unless that address has a history of having items seized by customs. And even then, it may not matter.

I have successfully received parcels at a UPS address, as well as another mail receiving service. I hsave only had one package seized going to a rented address, and that was during the same time period about 1-1/2 weeks ago when everyone else was having the same problem.

So have you used a mail forwarding service at all? I would like to know about that if you have any info on it.

I have looked into it, but have not yet used it. If I do, I would probably want one in New York. Orders seem to fly through customs there!

I have one in New York and my first order via DHL got seized on June 20th. Orders via EMS got through with no problem.

Packages can get Seized Anywhere, Anytime, Any Carrier, EMs, DHL, FEDEX, UPS, Does not really Matter. It is More a Matter of Having the right guy doing the SHIPPING, The Sellers who send the Product out Have a Better Idea of Which Methods to use, and When to ship, than we do over Here. Lets Face it, the Shippers are to ones who Lose Out Most of the time, If we do not get our orders we file a dispute, and get our money back.

So it is logical to assume that the Sellers/Shippers are Much more in tune to what is going on with US Customs, so If your seller insists that you use a Certain Carrier, It really is NOT Because they will make more Money, most of the time it is because THEY KNOW that the best chance for the order to Arrive at a certain destination is with a Particular Shipping Method.

So in essence if you have a trustworthy supplier, it is Always best to trust Their Judgement in reguards to shipping

So did you receive a letter for the package that got seized or are you safe from all that trouble when you use a mail forwarding service?

It makes no difference. Customs will send the letter to the name and address that was on the package that was seized. Same rules apply, just don't respond to it.

I received a letter at a UPS store. I thought for sure they were going to tell me to take my business elsewhere, but they never did.

just because you received a letter from homeland security doesn't mean it involves customs....it could be immigration related stuff...that's why the ups store don't know.

No, actually the return address is to US Customs and Border Patrol Service.

I cannot say that others may not receive a letter from "Homeland Security" but I have never seen one.
