That being said, you don't need to open bank accounts - you need valid ID. People from States open up accounts all the time but you do have to do it physically - whether internet or not, you will have to submit proof - most banks have you come to sign docs in person. A lot of State students study up here so they open and operate accounts. Hate the regs or not, I have to respect our Canadian banks $ - solid solid
Agree with Burning, move this thread out. | Yes, I completely agree with you. The reason why where not in the same situation as in the USA is due to out strict banking laws. Don't mess around with the Canadian system, the banks will report you to the CRA (Canadian revenue agency) if you receive large amounts of money. Trust me, don't mess around or you will regret it. The banks are not stupid, any suspicious payments received will be scrutinized and it will be sent to the CRA for review.
Many people think it's easy opening a Canadian bank account but it's NOT! The process is very long and tedious. I don't know why many people want a Canadian bank account anyways, paypal gives the option to add a USA bank account for Canadian users. I myself have a USA bank account added to my Canadian paypal in order to avoid conversion fees. PLEASE - MOVE THIS THREAD TO THE EXECUTIVE OR SUBSCRIBED AREA!
I had to make it big and bold (that's what she said...haha) in order to catch GB or Apskin's attention.
