Hi,
I have found that with Paypal when you use an online saver that does not support DD's as your bank account it still deposits the 2 amounts so you can become verified but after you cannot transfer money out into the account.

Hmm, are you SURE emmy? I can't see how that could be possibe, if the 2 deposits went through. Are you certain your account number/sort code/branch name/branch location were all correct?

Emmy And Mant, i do believe that is the case now, and can confirm that Halifax Savings accounts, although able to be verified initially, get removed from Paypal shortly after.. although this is a ballache, up to today, i 100% know that an RBS savings account, can be used as verification and withdraw funds.. as i use this daily with paypal and allow direct debits from the major utility suppliers.. and as i am now weary of tyoing out this same info, it's the last time.. should RBS develop a problem in the future, i shall obviously inform the UK forum..

Thanks scouse. I can also verify that Barclays and Abbey savings accounts can also be used.
I wonder why they are refusing halifax accounts?

Thats crap, I have just verified my paypal account with a halifax saver account.
Its getting SO hard these days, you really will need to start opening up a full new bank account soon.
Mants how easy is it to open Barclays saver accounts? I have a Barclays account, so can it just be done online, and can they be closed easierly aswell? Cheers mate

Not sure Matt. I opened mine back in 2005, and it's still open. It's like, my main bank account at this time.
Doesn't have online banking though, which was a pig.

Mattcaf, do you mean the a/c was verified & you could still use it for paypal?
scouse said that halifax accounts can be verified but then no use.
Can you advise what you have done, please.

Hi, yes the Halifax web savers work to get the initial deposits, but then you get an email from paypal in a couple of days to say that the mandate has been returned!
So they do not work for using as your bank account, am using scouces/mants info and opening accounts with those banks.

Can you advise what you have done, please. | The paypal is verified and working fully. They sent the money to my halifax saver and I verified my account. However a few days later I get an email saying there is a "mandate"
So the account is verified and can accept money from Ebay and I can send money, however I cant withdraw the money I have in the account to my halifax account

Well Matt... a few posts before yours, you were warned.. i told you, that with Halifax savers, you could verify the paypal account, they would deposit the 2 small amounts etc.. ...but then they would shortly afterwards (remove the account from Paypal) I think your reply was somewhere along the lines of "That's Crap, I just verified etc"
For future reference, allow the system your trying to follow it's full course before posting info that is quite blatantly not correct... i wonder how many people opened Halifax savers as a result of your "Crap" findings..
To reiterate, RBS,Barclay's Savings accounts, can be used to "Verify" and then subsequently "Withdraw"
Matt, my advice would be to open one of the above mentioned accounts, add it to your paypal, and withdraw your funds.. then delete the Halifax account from paypal, making the RBS or Barclays your preferential account..
scouse.

I dont think you understand. I ALREADY have a verified paypal account thanks to my halifax saver, and I ALREADY have over £600 in that account so need to somehow withdraw from my verified account that no longer has my halifax saver on.

Maybe it's a rule that now only applies to new accounts.

Why not? I only use savings accounts because it was what they offered me in the bank for under 18's.

i'm using a halifax bank account with paypal to withdraw money without problems... | If you have a Halifax bank account for example, its very easy to open up a Saver account online. Takes under 2 minutes and you can open as many as you want under your bank account, hence having many paypal accounts. To get a new account you need to apply, it takes a week to get sorted and it messes with your credit ratings.
