Netgear Wireless Network - No Mac Address Change Option
So I'm setting my friend up with a couple accounts and I'm running into problems. I'm trying to change the MAC Address using a Wireless network (laptop). I log into the router and select basic settings but have no option nor do I see any Mac Address. I look online all over the place and I've told that you see the Mac Address under this tab (basic settings). I do not see it. Is the problem that I'm wireless and not directly connected with local area connection? Ugg, this is driving me crazy.
The complete step-by-step guide to get back to selling today!
I have an interested issue with this step. I have no problems changing MACs on my Linksys routers, but I'm now having an issue with a friends Netgear router. This is a modem/router in one unit. I log into the router and select "basic settings" on the left. Unfortunately I don't have any options after that to change the Mac address. I clicked on every tab and there simply is no option to change the Mac address. This is the only information under "basic settings" and it is non-changeable. Can anybody help please?

If you only find one MAC setting, obviously that's the one you want.
04a. Do NOT choose to clone any MAC already in your system. Change the numbers in the last 2 pairs as you wish.
MAC is in this format - xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx - and the first 4 sets need to stay as they are. The last pairs change.
You can make those any hex numbers between 00-FF. Set this manually. Don't CLONE anything.
05a. After you change, you need to save the settings. So click save.
06a. You can either reboot the router or you can Release DHCP then Renew DHCP from the router, if you see the option.
07a. Regardless of what you did for 06a, unplug and replug your MODEM while the router is still doing it's thing.
08a. Goto IP Chicken - Whats my IP address? ip address lookup and compare it to what you got from 01a. It should be different.
If it is still the same, either you missed a step or your IP is STATIC.
[end modem/router]
You can't just change the MAC address on the fly. It is more a hardware identifier for your network adapter than anything else.
The router is the last place that will let you change your MAC address. Some routers have a feature which allow you to filter MAC addresses to allow or deny access only to certain adapters. But this is different to what you want to do.
If you want to change your MAC address you will have to do it manually. Thereby altering your hardware.
eBay and Paypal look at the internet IP. They can not see past your router by direct methods.
Just use IP Burger or IP Chicken when checking your own IP address. The IP address shown by those sites is the IP address that is relevant to your concern.
If that was the case, then using Hide MY IP should be fine.
I invoke Hide My IP, and IPBurger tells me it indeed has changed.
Yet, others are saying Hide My IP software isn't stealth.
I just noticed yesterday someone changed my facebook password.Ok. I reseted from my Email and made a new one.Today when I went to check my IP on whatismyipaddress.com to order to take care some business) sad
Ohh S...T!Which I really dont like it!) Because I believe was "None" before. The Ip was the same, dynamic, I did not change anything.
Now I scare to log in to any of my stealth Ebay account from any users on the Pc.
After a little search I find this on a page about Suspected Network Sharing Device
"It means that we've seen multiple browsers over a period of time suggesting that multiple computers may be sharing the same internet connection via a router or other network sharing device"
I was thinking because using multiple users accounts on my PC?
I used my company computer to sign in to my suspended ebay and paypal account regularly just to see how my sales went, before I got suspended. My company has a Static IP address and my computer connects to the server and the company network.
Is it true that ebay will only see my company's Static IP address, not link back to my particular computer ip address? If I set up a new account at home, can I use my company computer to access the ebay and paypal account, without ebay suspending my new account?
I can access ebay on my iphone's 3 G network, is this a good thing or bad? How can or can they track my phone's ID.
I can also set up a personal hotspot and use my phone's data connection from my iMac. Can they tell that I am using my phone and can they track my phone anyway.
