I absolutely HATE the $1 fee for 1 and 3 day auctions because if you have many accounts shorter auctions are much easier to meet your quotas and more importantly it gives you more time for your sales to cool down and rest.

This does effect me in a way. I usually use auctions 3 days mark. I intend to sell more this way. People at times do not want to wait 7 to 10 days auctions.

Seriously!!!!!

They know that. For many people the 3 day format is the main one they use.
THAT is the reason for increasing the fees - NOT the one they gave.
Their logic is completely flawed in that sense. The 3 day format allows people to have enough time to get bids on their items and sell fast meaning they can sell more. Ebay know this. THAT is the reason for piling on the fees for that format - to make more money themselves of the popular format. Plain and simple.
Thank you ebay for yet again thinking youre our partner and dipping into our pockets.

They are pushing auctions. I read a report on here I think that auctions are down this year like 7 or 8 percent I think. They are trying to entice you to go longer auction and make sure you use auction instead of fix price. They obviously were not too happy about that report. it doesn't affect me that much either because I normally do fixed price or 7/10 day auctions.

This will help so much for the fight against PHAKE items and eBay may let you sell items without getting VeRo if you have he correct stuff with proof?
Couldn't you get around this by simply going to the exact item that you are getting ready to sell and get the manufacturer part number (MPN), and global trade item numbers (GTINs) and the Universal Product Codes (UPCs) and International Standard Book Numbers (ISBNs). All from a top rated power seller that has been selling the item for a while and still going strong?

What is Ebay trying to do? Its pointless because all you need to do is go to another seller and be a copy cat to get all of that information.

Methinks EBAY has instituted the charge on 1 and 3 day auctions because of the people who "I only need my account up for a week". So now they will have to pay extra for short day auctions. Also the longer an auction is up the more chance they have to "discover" the guys who is gaming the system. Myself I never list 1 day auctions. I am happy not to have to pay the 30 cent upcharge as my margins are about $2-10 an item.

They know 5,7 and 10 Day Auctions will get the highest prices, which will yield higher profits from there FV FEES.

AND especially with the traffic throttling and listing visibility , they probably are seeing a even lower ending price from the 1 and 3 day auctions the last year. Sometimes the listing won't be visible for 12-24 hours, so a lot of sellers that are using 1-3 day auctions are actually running auctions with a lot less visibility time than that, and it's affecting eBays bottom line

So a solution was too push sellers to use the 5,7,,10 day auctions and rather than just get rid of the 1 and 3 day they will make the sellers pay a nice listing fee

$1 per listing is Big, for sellers that use those Auctions and sell say 200 items they now need to add an extra $200 a month in fees, which is ridiculous

I run a lot of 5 and 7 day Auctions but I also like 3 day auctions and will add 1 day auctions as well, they are good to get quick cash flow going, which is something that eBay is against sellers having . They don't realize how much cash flow is important to operating a business

Or rather they don't care as long as they get there's

When Ebay comes out with there new policy later this year that forces you to enter a UPC code for new certain items.

Does anyone think you wont be able to reuse them? Just like on Amazon.

Because you cant reuse UPC codes on Amazon platform once they have been used.

Does anyone have any idea what categories they are even looking at?

As far as imposing new rules goes, this "seller update" was pretty mild compared to past ones. Of course, for those who are negatively affected by the new rules, that is little comfort.

Remember, however, that this affects ALL sellers, so it is not like your competitors will have a leg up on you. They will be affected as well.

I also don't see the requirement to use UPC codes or MPN's having much of an affect on sellers. I somehow doubt that VERO members on the lookout for phakes are searching for them using UPC codes. This is more likely being implemented so that eBay can better track exactly WHAT is selling in certain categories.

At the end of the day, we all simply have to adapt to the new rules. We have all been through these things before, it is not the end of the world.

Yeh I just got this messege on my accounts too. It is really a bummer for me because I love setting up 3 day auctions that run from Thursday night to Sunday night. It is gonna take an extra $300 from my pocket each month at the very least, but I seem to be getting much higher prices when I run 3 day auctions as opposed to selling it BIN, so I think I will be sticking to the auctions. It just doesn't make sense for me to run 5-7 day auctions because it greatly reduces the amount of items I can sell in a month, and eBay knows this so they are going to try and profit of it..

I don't understand the logic of how running 5 days auctions will reduce the number of auctions you can list. Wouldnt 3 day auctions do that since they last a shorter period of time...? What am I missing?
Also, instead of listing them on Thursday why not just do so on Tuesday and let them run until Sunday? Sounds like it would be a very similar setup without spending that much more money. Plus youll get the extra couple of days of exposure for your listings. Worth a shot.

Things that are usually being sold at 1-3 day auctions are usually not liked by EB. Pay 1 buck and get kicked from EB lol.
