Activity: 23% Longevity: 90% | | Ebay's 2015 Spring Seller Update
Started getting this notice from ebay on my accounts regarding the spring update.
And of course fees are going up.
I just love how they word it too - theyre 'helping' us increase our sales by increasing fees. Interesting logic there.
How about REDUCING fees in the formats you want to push sellers towards? or do the monkeys who make decisions over there at ebay cant figure how to sweeten the pot to attract sellers?
At least Final Value Fees are not increasing - this time...

For all the people who do 1 day auctions to increase feedback with digital items...this affects them drastically.
I see alot of bad sellers that needed that 1 day auction format to boost quick feedback to offset all their negative feedback. Haha...
This update doesn't really affect me too much.

It's bullcrap. Most of my auctions are 3-day, and extending them to 5-day won't make one hill of beans difference in attracting buyers.
But if I don't change to 5-day... eFlake pulls a nifty $1 out of my pocket for every single sale.
Talk about a buzzkill

Fee updates encourage use of listing formats and durations for greater selling success
To improve the visibility of sought-after merchandise—and help sellers increase their sales—eBay is introducing a number of updates to eBay's listing fees and features on May 1. Changes include: - Unlimited insertion fee credits for listings that sell in auction. As an incentive for using the auction-style format successfully, sellers will be credited for the insertion fee on auction-style listings when that item sells (exclusions apply†).
- Adjustments to monthly allotments of free listings. eBay will update the monthly allotments of free listings*—zero insertion fees—for both eBay Stores subscribers and sellers without an eBay Store.
- The 10-day duration on auction-style listings will no longer have an added feature fee. Sellers can maximize visibility and enjoy our longest duration for auction-style listings.
- A $1 special duration feature fee per listing for sellers who choose 1- or 3-day auction-style listings. Charging this fee will help discourage the use of shorter durations where they are least successful.
- Reserve price will increase. This feature fee will increase in price to the greater of $3, or 2% of the reserve price (the minimum price that must be met for your item to sell), with a cap of $100.

When I look to bid on items.. I'd prefer items ending in less than 3 days than an item ending in 9 days...

oh crap!!
"Later this year, sellers will be required to include certain product identifiers, such as a manufacturer part number (MPN), on new listings of branded items in new condition within select categories. "
This will help so much for the fight against PHAKE items and eBay may let you sell items without getting VeRo if you have he correct stuff with proof?

eBay seems to be so backwards company, if you think about it for a sec. It's seems that they are doing their hardest to make it as difficult as possible for "average joe" to make some money. Just alienating the whole small time market, but I guess it just makes big sellers even bigger.
Won't REALLY affect me personally as I run 7 day auctions or Buy it Now stuff. I don't think I've even had a 3 day auction.
Still, **** eBay.

That $1 extra is it just for auction style or is it fixed price too?

Even if you put an MPN won't allow you to list and sell 50 Apple Chargers or IPads

Got this email on all of my accounts. And while it is complete horsesh*t, it doesn't affect me...much. I run mostly buy it now, but my auction style formats are all 5-7 days. They have to recoup fees somehow from plummeting stock.

Although I can't speak for the sellers who use the 1 or 3 day auction, I've found to what they're saying pretty accurate.
The longer the auction the more chance you get bidders to gain intersest. If you look at what they say at face value its not incorrect. But I know that doesn't help if your one of the sellers who utilizes the 1 or 3 day auction..

If there is a big market for your item, 1 and 3 day auctions do well. If it is a collectible or antique, etc. then 7 or even 10 day would do well. Theyre charging $1 listing fee to "discourage 1 and 3 day listings"...thats bs. Theyre doing it to rake in the monry because they know a loooooooot of sellers utilize 1 and 3 day auctions.

If you have something listed for 3 days and it sells for $100, what if 10 more people saw your auctions on the 4th and 5th day and are willing to pay $200 for your item? This is ebays logic and why they are trying to push longer auctions. Well....thats what they SAY anyways.
